Highlights of the tour

For the past several hundred years, China's national religious teaching had been the Tibetan (Tibeto-Mongolian) Buddhism. Tibetan monks usually occupied the highest post of religious affairs. The Tibetan Buddhism teaches followers to "earn" a good life in the next incarnation (next life), thus the temples and palaces in Tibet are among the best, partly due to the generous donations from followers.

Visiting Tibet is the dream of many, yet the high altitude and distance kept this remote area only in imagination. With the opening of the new Qinghai-Tibet Railway ("Sky Railway"), visiting Tibet is no longer a dream.

You journey will start from Beijing, where you visit the famous destinations like the Great Wall of China, Temple of Heaven. After you settled a little, you will take a 46-train ride to Tibet. The area along the train route became accesible to tourists only recently, thanks to the "Sky Railway". Enjoy the beautiful view!

After arriving at Lasha, you will visit the Potala Palace, the place that Dalai Lama used to live, and Drepung and Sera Monasteries. You will get close to local Tibetan people while visiting the Barkhor Street, the traditional commencial district.

In the old days, Dalai and Panchen ruled the whole Tibet in turn or each ruled different parts of Tibet. You will visit Gyangtse, where the Panchen Lama used to live. On the way to Gyangtse, you will visit the holy lake in Tibet (Yamdrok Yumtso), enjoy the beautiful snow mountain view while have a picnic!
